The season is starting to gain momentum, and so are we. Here are the Fantasy Headlines for Thursday, April 8:
- Nolan Reimold‘s lingering injury gave Felix Pie a shot, and now Pie is giving it right back.
- It’s early, but things are looking good for Alfonso Soriano‘s knee.
- The Cubs are also keeping close watch on their Triple-A relievers.
- Cleveland manager Manny Acta plans on getting Luis Valbuena plenty of time at second base while batting seventh in the lineup.
- Detroit is fully committed to the development of catching prospect Alex Avila so expect frequent starts, just like yesterday’s.
- Florida decided against giving Josh Johnson extra rest after a rough Opening Day start against the Mets.
- Lance Berkman is eligible to come off the DL Saturday and is eying the Cardinals series next week.
- Great news for Hideki Matsui owners. The outfielder will be getting the start in left tonight, so eligibility should be coming rather shortly (depending on your league’s rules).
- Dodgers relievers Hong-Chih Kuo and Ronald Belisario are making good progress in their returns from injury.
- Milwaukee has officially declared Jeff Suppan their fifth starter.
- Jose Reyes played on back-to-back days for the first time, a great sign for his owners.
- Mark Ellis jumped from seventh to second in the A’s lineup after a walk-off earlier in his previous game. Hopefully it will be more permanent, but it looks as if it’s just an alternate lineup.
- Philadelphia claimed right-hander Nelson Figueroa off waivers from the Mets.
- Injured Seattle lefties Erik Bedard and Cliff Lee appear to be doing well.
- No link, but Adam Wainwright looked solid on Wednesday.
- Jamey Newberg of MLB.com goes over the Rangers’ top 10 RHP prospects.
- If you have Lyle Overbay, feel confident that Jays’ manager Cito Gaston won’t be pinch-hitting for the lefty.
- Nothing is going right for the Nationals in right field after Wednesday’s starter Mike Morse left the game with a calf strain.
